Melanie Fernando-Reid
Physical Therapist, Orthopedic Clinical Specialist
Melanie graduated over 30 years ago from Loma Linda University with a Bachelor’s of Science in Physical Therapy. She has been accredited as an Orthopedic Clinical Specialist by the APTA since 1997. She has extensive varied clinical experience in multiple settings including industrial rehabilitation return to work, sports medicine return to play at high school, college, and professional athletes and orthopedic conservative and post-surgical rehabilitation.
Melanie has been an APTA credentialed Clinical Instructor since 2009 with students from many physical therapy schools including Loma Linda University, Azusa Pacific University, and the University of Southern California. She has served as a part time instructor in various physical therapy programs. In 1989, she helped establish the curriculum and teach the orthopedic and manual therapy curriculum at Cal State Northridge from 2000-2002. She introduced and taught Industrial Rehabilitation and Return to Work at Loma Linda University. In addition to her contributions to these universities, she was asked to write a chapter on Rehabilitation that was published in a book on Surgical Ankle Arthroscopy in 1991.
Most importantly, Melanie enjoys being able to continue direct clinical care at Precision Rehabilitation, emphasizing and teaching self-management options before or after injury. When she is not at Precision, she has the opportunity to help empower healthcare providers in numerous settings as a Clinical Training Consultant with a safe patient handling equipment company.
