Amanda O’Connell

Physical Therapist Doctor of Physical Therapy

Dr. Amanda O’Connell completed her undergraduate degree at California State University of Long Beach, graduating with a B.S. in Kinesiology with a focus in Exercise Science. Here she discovered her interest in Physical Therapy and her passion for neurologic care. She began obtaining clinical experience at Orange Coast Medical Center with Steps Forward, a Parkinson’s Disease exercise class, at Saddleback Medical Center inpatient and outpatient, and at a local outpatient orthopedic physical therapy clinic.

She completed her post-graduate studies at CSULB, where she earned her Doctorate in Physical Therapy. While at CSULB, she served as Vice President of her cohort, completed graduate research in dual task gait in older adult populations, served alongside faculty as a SPT Teacher’s Assistant for the Neurologic Pro-Bono Clinic for Level II DPT students, spoke as a guest lecturer at schools, and participated in various community service organizations including Adaptive Freedom Foundation and STEPtember with the Cerebral Palsy Alliance Research Foundation. In her clinical rotations, she obtained further experience with orthopedic, neurologic, geriatric, and athletic populations.

Following graduation, she practiced in acute care at Los Alamitos Medical Center, a local Comprehensive Stroke Center, and she currently works as a Teacher’s Associate for the Neurologic Pro-Bono Clinic at CSULB and practices at Precision Rehabilitation. At Precision, she works with both orthopedic and neurologic populations to improve function, independence, and wellbeing. When she is not with her Precision family, she enjoys playing soccer, hiking, camping, and painting.
